There are many ways to create a plan for the project like creating diagrams or flow charts. However, it can become very hectic as there are many aspects you have to plan for. Instead you can use ready made project templates where you just have to fill in the information just like you fill a form and distribute copies amongst your staff or members. These templates will help you in planning out important aspects of the project like completion of the project before the deadline, delegation of work and coming up with solutions in case you have any problems. There are several websites who offer these templates. You have to find out which template suits your requirements the best.
A completed project template will give you a lot of confidence and as you have, what is essentially a map, for your project you will be able to make better decisions. Another advantage of using a template is that is allows for effective communication. Looking at the template will give all involved a clear understanding of their roles and what is expected from each individual. You can either make your own template or find completed templates online. The advantage of using pre made template is that you will save a lot of time and energy. If you are new to project management than a pre made template will be an excellent guide and will give you a place to start from. Make sure you stick to your project template and you will see the project through to the end and the end will be a success.
The methodology is like the knowledge of how to build successful roads. The template is like the guide to the type of road you are building - trail, dirt road, interstate highway, etc. - how to gather the specific types of resources and the knowledge of where / when to conform to certain regulations.
